THE ISSUE:
Hunger prevents kids from reaching their full potential. With more than 1 in 5 children struggling with hunger, it is an epidemic that is threatening our future.
Springfield has some of the nation's highest rates of food insecurity for children. As one indicator, some of our schools have nearly 90% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch.
These children may be able to count on breakfast or lunch at school, but away from school their meals may not be so predictable. Belly-Full projects take aim at childhood hunger so our kids can focus on learning and growing.
BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE
Belly-Full
Belly-Full is a community coalition working to sustain and expand programs to stamp out childhood hunger in Springfield, Oregon.
Organized through the Springfield Rotary Club, Belly-Full is partnering with Food for Lane County, the Springfield School District, the Springfield Education Foundation, other service organizations, non-profits, businesses, and community volunteers to improve food security for our most vulnerable citizens.
